Ductless Mini-Splits vs. Traditional HVAC Systems and Window Air Conditioners
David Daher, owner and operator of Freedom Heating & Air Conditioning, talks about Mitsubishi Electric ductless mini-split systems and how they compare to traditional systems and window air conditioners.

Comparing Ductless Mini-Split Systems to Conventional HVAC Systems and Window Air Conditioners
My name is David Daher. I’m the owner/operator of FREEDOM HEATING and AIR CONDITIONING and I’m here today to talk to you about DUCTLESS MINI-SPLIT SYSTEMS and how they compare to traditional systems, as well as how they compare to window air conditioners.

Conventional HVAC Systems Require Bulky Ductwork and Disruptive Installation
Conventional or central air conditioning systems actually require a lot of big bulky ductwork to be installed in your home, and the process of installing them can also be a much extended period of time. Installation of a conventional HVAC system often requires a lot of demolition and remodeling work, to not only actually install the ductwork by cutting open walls, floors, and ceilings in your home, but also to actually go ahead and then repair or otherwise conceal that ductwork once the actual installation has actually been completed.

Conventional HVAC Ductwork Requires Regular Cleaning and Maintenance
Conventional HVAC systems do provide whole home solutions, and there is a way to zone these ductwork systems afterwards at an additional cost, which can range from two to three thousand dollars. Also the ability to conveniently locate these systems is often not very flexible. You’re usually very restricted to where you can actually install a convention HVAC outdoor unit including where the electrical outlets can be placed. And ductwork does require cleaning from time to time to get all the dust, mold, allergens, bacteria and all that stuff that is typically accumulated in the in the ductwork systems.

Ductless Mini-Splits Let You Control Where the Heating and Cooling is Delivered
So looking at those compared to mini-split systems they don’t require any ductwork and all the heads or one of the heads can be zoned to actually heat and cool specific areas or rooms in your home that we call zones.

Ductless Mini-Split Systems Install Quickly and Less Disruptively
These are quick and easy installations or usually can complete a whole home installation within one to two days and be out of your home, where a ducted system can actually take boards of a week or more. They’re small, they’re flexible and they’re very concealable and they’re not very intrusive and there’s no ductwork to maintain.

Window Air Conditioners Are Noisy, Ugly and Inefficient
Window units are loud and noisy and you’re going to actually lose that window and not be able to see out of it you’re going to have this big box kind of hanging out in there plus they only provide cooling they’re also very inefficient and consume a lot of energy and plus, there’s the biggest part of it is the home security risk. Somebody can walk up and just push that window unit in and now they have full access to your home.

Ductless Mini-Splits are Quiet, Efficient and Secure
With ductless mini-split systems, they’re whisper quiet, you get to keep that window, you don’t have to lose it and have this big bulky view and it’s sitting in there. They do heating and cooling. They’re amazingly energy efficient — anywhere from thirty to sixty percent more efficient than window units as well as traditional heating and cooling systems. And there’s no home security risk, which is one of the biggest benefits that I really like, to protect my family, as well as my concern for yours.
